Competitive Program
The Competitive Program is designed for paddlers interested in racing and performance development. Crews are selected based on blend, technique, and speed. Participation in racing is optional; however, practices prioritize racing crews. Racers are expected to attend all OC‑6 practices, as attendance plays a key role in crew selection. The program includes three tiers—Elite, Competitive, and Developmental and uses rating sessions to support crew placement and track individual improvement. Check out Members Corner for Competitive structure and race team evaluation.
Signing up for Races
All races are in TeamSnap for signup. Our competitive coaching staff will do everything possible to ensure every paddler who registers has the opportunity to compete; however, race assignments are not always guaranteed.
Please note: Consistent practice attendance is expected prior to signing up for any race events.
If you have any questions about races, types of races, training, preparation, etc. please contact a competitive coach.

Destination Race-
Na Pali Challenge Kauai, HI
Interested in competing at a destination race this year? BBOP will be traveling as a team to the Na Pali Challenge on the island of Kauai, Hawaii!
To secure your spot, please sign up through TeamSnap. We are looking for 6 women and 6 men, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sign-up deadline: April 30 (or until all spots are filled)
The earlier you sign up, the better — logistics such as travel coordination and canoe arrangements need to be organized well in advance, and your crew will appreciate the extra planning time.
Please note: Participants signing up for destination races are expected to attend the majority of practices leading up to the event.
If you would like to organize your own crew for a different destination race, that's completely welcome! Just be sure to let Sarah (Head Coach) know so she can stay in the loop.
